Gender Diversity & Empowerment
Maydaan Archery Club takes pride in fostering an environment that welcomes all to participate in the sport of archery. Our commitment to gender inclusivity is reflected in our membership statistics for 2024.
Our current membership shows a relatively balanced gender distribution, with 46.2% female members (327 participants) and 53.8% male members (365 participants). This near-parity represents significant progress in a sport that has historically seen higher male participation rates, demonstrating Maydaan's successful efforts to create an inclusive environment.
The club has implemented several initiatives to encourage female participation, including women-focused shoots, women-focused social events and female coaching staff. These efforts have contributed to the healthy gender balance we see today.

Youth-Focused Coaching
Specialised instructors who understand the unique physical and mental aspects of teaching archery to children and teenagers. Focused not only on building athletes, but also building characters and leaders in our community.
The Onbesli Youth Program
Weekly classes specifically designed for different age groups (8-12 and 13-17) to ensure appropriate skill development and peer interaction as well as retreats tailored to build strength and character.
Onbesli Cup & Other Youth Tournaments
Regular tournament opportunities that build confidence, sportsmanship, and goal-setting abilities among young archers. A day where we make our youth archers feel celebrated and awarded.
The Onbesli Program has been particularly successful, engaging over 50 participants in a structured archery development pathway. This program combines technical skill-building with character development, emphasising patience, focus, and discipline - values that translate well beyond the archery range.

Adult programs at Maydaan includes a mix of competitive training, recreational shooting sessions, technical workshops, friendly competitions, and social events. In 2024, our training program propelled a team of athletes to represent Australia on a global stage at the World Nomad Games where they won Gold in the 'Zhamby' Category.

Cultural Events
The annual Maydaan Cup has become our signature multicultural celebration, combining archery competitions with cultural showcases, traditional food, and performances. This event typically attracts over 500 participants and spectators from across the region.
Religious Inclusion
The club respects and accommodates various religious practices, with the Annual Iftaar event during Ramadan being one showcase of this. This community dinner brings together members of all backgrounds to share in this important tradition.
Maydaan Cup: A Celebration of Archery and Culture
The 2024 Maydaan Cup was our largest event to date, bringing together over 500 attendees from 29 diverse cultural and multifaith backgrounds. With more than 120 archers from across Australia‑primarily from NSW, Queensland, and Victoria-competing, the event highlighted the growing interest and skill in this traditional sport.
The event was mentioned by Mrs Tina Ayyad, MP, in her address to NSW parliament, congratulating the Club on its significant and positive impact on the local community and its celebration of cultural diversity.
Introducing newcomers to the art and sport of archery remains a cornerstone of Maydaan Archery Club's mission. In 2024, we've welcomed 200 attendees to our structured beginner courses, establishing a strong foundation for their archery journey. Beyond these dedicated beginner programs, an additional 70 individuals have discovered archery through our Community Programs and Personal and Professional Development Courses.

Special Needs Inclusion: Archery for All
Maydaan Archery Club is committed to making archery accessible to people of all abilities. In 2024, the club assisted 25 members with special needs to actively participate in our programs, representing diverse conditions including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and neurodevelopment differences.

Maydaan Archery Club's educational outreach has become one of our most impactful initiatives, bringing the sport directly to young people in their school environments.
Our structured school programs currently operate in three major educational institutions: Irfan College , Amity College, and Al Noori Muslim School. With six lessons conducted in schools every week, our educational programming reaches a projected 600 school students annually.
